THE LARRY PAGE
HALL OF FAME
|
|
An artist must have released their first recording at least 25 years ago to qualify for induction into the LARRY Page Hall of Fame (just like the real Rock Hall). Bronze inductees are those that have left their mark on the industry, contributing unforgettable music that has lived beyond its time.
Silver inductees are artists who, without question, had an impact on music. They propelled their genres forward, giving us many of the greatest songs and albums of all time.
Gold inductees are household names that have proven to be essential to the development of rock and roll. They are the innovators and the door-openers that have reached superstar status.

When determining the difference between a memorable artist and an inductee, it is necessary to use the MATP test, or the Mamas and the Papas test. If you compare a possible inductee to the Mamas and the Papas -- a band whose influence, artistry and longevity are right on the lower border of greatness -- then it is easy to see whether you live up to the standards of a legend. For example, if you take two seemingly similar artists like Smokey Robinson and the Miracles and Gladys Knight and the Pips and use MATP, the result is Smokey with a nod and a goodnight to Gladys. This scientific method will be used for determining all of the LARRY Page's Hall of Fame inductees.

Not including the non-performers and early influences that have been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland, a slew of underserving musicians have been honored. Many are of relatively minor importance to rock and roll. Some of them, most people have never heard of.
The Coasters
Eddie Cochran
Clyde McPhatter
Bill Haley
Frankie Lymon and the Teenagers
The Moonglows
Richie Valens
Brenda Lee
Gene Pitney
Of course, these aren't the only inductees of the Rock Hall that people question. It is overcrowded with decent, semi-influencial artists who we can acknowledge as being somewhat important and talented, but don't necessarily need to be placed into a hall of fame.
