Bob Massey, the ringleader of D.C.'s The Gena Rowlands Band, often has his heavily orchestrated music lumped into the chamber pop category, but his odd but intriguing combination of quirky post-rock rhythms and vocals that sound like they're from an off-broadway musical aren't exactly what you'd expect from the subgenre they've been tagged. These tracks are from the band's new album Flesh and Spirits, out next Tuesday.
