MP3: VOXTROT

"Mothers, Sisters, Daughters & Wives". It's hard to pinpoint what makes Austin band Voxtrot a worthwhile listen. Their style is largely by-the-book indie rock. However, I think they prove that plain ol' good melody still goes a long way, even in a genre that is quick to reject bands lacking innovation. (Voxtrot.net)

MP3: STARLIGHT MINTS

"Inside of Me". Starlight Mints have all the components to be a squeaky clean indie pop band. But it's that slight tilt from the norm that defines their sound on tracks like this one from the band's forthcoming album Drowaton. (Barsuk)

MP3: KIMYA DAWSON

"Underground". Since going solo, former Moldy Peach Kimya Dawson hasn't made many changes to her signature somber storybook sound.
